Form of intl consortium to promote Glonass abroad has yet to be chosen - expert

MOSCOW. Feb 14 (Interfax-AVN) - The form of an international consortium, which will promote Glonass satellite navigation technologies on foreign markets, is just being chosen, Glonass/GNSS Forum Association Executive Director Vladimir Klimov told Interfax-AVN on Friday.

"Consideration of the establishment of an international consortium has been ordered. Various options are being discussed now," he said.

It could be a coordination body by the example of the COSPAS-SAPSAT international search and rescue network or a centralized body - a joint stock company whose members will contribute their shares to the authorized capital.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin proposed to entrust a state agency or a company with state participation with the promotion of Glonass technologies and projects. "I believe we need a state organization or a consortium or a joint stock company," Rogozin said.
