Glonass-M satellite delivered to Plesetsk - Information Satellite Systems

ZHELEZNOGORSK, Krasnoyarsk territory. Feb 14 (Interfax-AVN) - The Zheleznogorsk Information Satellite Systems has built another Glonass-M satellite, the company press service said.

"Glonass-M No 54 has been delivered to the Plesetsk space center. Information Satellite Systems specialists and space center crews are preparing the satellite for launch," says the report posted on the company website.

A Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle powered with a Fregat upper stage will bring Glonass-M No. 54 into orbit in the middle of March. The launch date will be chosen by a state commission, the report said.

"It is planned to position five Glonass-M satellites in three missions in 2014 to maintain the Russian Glonass satellite navigation cluster: there will be one cluster launch of three satellites and two launches with one satellite in each," the report runs.

An additional system - a high precision thermo-stabilization module - has been installed for testing and certifying Glonass-M No. 54. The system will be a part of the next-generation Glonass satellites, which will have a higher navigation precision.

"The plant has built and is storing another three Glonass-M satellites," the report runs.
