ST. PETERSBURG. Feb 17 (Interfax-AVN) - A Kamov Ka-62 helicopter, equipped by avionics developed by Transas Group, will be demonstrated to Asia-Pacific commercial operators at the Singapore Airshow, the company' press service reported.
"A Transas-developed glass cockpit is installed in the helicopter, manufactured by Russian Helicopters. The Ka-62's avionics are largely harmonized with the integrated avionics systems of the helicopters Mil Mi-38 (KBO-38) and Mi-8/17 (IBKV-17), also developed by Transas, according to the company's statement, received by Interfax-AVN on Friday.
Besides that, the Ka-62 is the first Russian helicopter to include a Transas indicator located as additional equipment against the windscreen panel. The basic variant of the equipment envisons installation of a terrain awareness and warning system (TAWS), the use of GLONASS/GPS (GNSS) and of a wide area augmentation system (WAAS). At customers' order, helicopters can be equipped with a traffic collision avoidance system (TCAS II), the press service said.
"Transas Group's air navigation and cartography service is available globally, including in Latin American countries which rank among the first to have ordered Ka-62 helicopters," it said.
In addition to the avionics equipment, Transas Group used its flight simulator intended to fine-tune avionics, in order to develop a prototype Ka-62 trainer, coupled with a visualization system partially covering the territory of Brazil, the first country to have ordered the new equipment. Supplies of an entire spectrum of technical means for training personnel is envisioned, from automated training systems and training classrooms to Level-D full flight simulators (FFS). All of Transas' simulators fully comply with the most advanced DOC 9625 ICAO standards, which guarantees their certification by Russian and FAA and EASA standards.
"The flight simulator and the trainer prototype will be used for training crews for the first flight. Subsequently, after a package of basic data is formed jointly with Russian Helicopters, and following certification, they could be used for training crews and technical personnel for operating Ka-62 helicopters," the press service said.
The Kamov Ka-62 advanced multipurpose helicopter will be serially produced by the Sazykin aircarft company "Progress" (Arsenyev). Both Kamov and Progress are part of Russian Helicopters. A trial model of the Ka-62 was demonstrated at the 2013 MAKS air show.
Transas Group is a well-known Russian developer and supplier of a wide spectrum of avionics equipment, naval and aviation training systems, and other innovative and science-intensive civilian, dual-purpose and military products.
