MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian inspectors on an Antonov An-30B aircraft will go on an Open Skies mission in Greece, head of the National Nuclear Threat Reduction Center Sergei Ryzhkov told Interfax-AVN.
"The observation flight will be performed on a maximum range of 1,010 kilometers from the Nea Anchialos Open Skies airfield in the period of February 17-21," Ryzhkov said.
The goal of the flight is to promote greater openness and transparency in military activities of Open Skies Treaty member countries, he noted.
The Russian plane will follow the route approved by the host country and Greek specialists will stay aboard to control the use of observation instruments and the compliance with the treaty provisions.
"That will be the second observation mission of Russia in treaty member countries in 2014," Ryzhkov said.
