MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - Moscow possesses information that a foreign sponsor of the Syrian opposition is trying to create a new Syrian opposition structure with the purpose of obstructing the peace talks.
"There is information [and we are verifying it] that certain sponsors of the opposition are starting to create a new structure from the groups, which have separated from the National Coalition," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow on Monday.
"They want this new formation to replace the National Coalition," he said. "In other words, they are taking a course towards secession from the negotiating track and once again putting a stake on the military scenario and powerful support from abroad," the Russian foreign minister said.
