ASTANA. Feb 17 (Interfax) - The Kazakh Military Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of former Deputy Director of the National Security Committee's Border Service Serik Ashimbayev.
"The arrest was authorized through April 11, 2014," the court press service told Interfax on Monday.
The criminal case has yet to be referred to a court; the investigation continues, it said.
The Border Service told Interfax that Ashimbayev had been working for the service until April 2013.
A number of media outlets reported that the National Security Committee had detained Ashimbayev on suspicions of the embezzlement of 300 million tenge in state funds. The current exchange rate is 184.51 tenge to the dollar.
