Russia hopes Maduro govt will cope with unrest - Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 18 (Interfax) - Moscow is concerned about massive protests being held in Venezuela.

"We learned with anxiety about growing tensions in Venezuela caused by deadly street clashes," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a commentary.

"We are expressing solidarity with the government and people of this friendly country, as well as our firm support for the course that aims to prevent instability," it said.

"The efforts being made by President Nicolas Maduro will hopefully help consolidate Venezuelan society and guarantee the constitutional law and order," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
