Russian Deputy Interior Minister Alexeyev removed from office - order

MOSCOW. Feb 18 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued an order to remove from office Deputy Interior Minister - Head of the Interior Ministry's Investigative Department Justice Major General Yuri Alexeyev, the Kremlin press service said.

Alexeyev was appointed to the position on June 16, 2012.

Prior to that, he had been working in the prosecution service and the police. He was deputy head of the Russian Interior Ministry's Investigative Committee in 2004-2011. Alexeyev returned to the Russian Prosecutor General's Office in July 2011 as the head of the department overseeing the enforcement of laws on federal security, inter-ethnic relations and suppression of extremism.
