MINSK. Feb 19 (Interfax) - The situation on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border is calm and there have been no reports on any attempts to block traffic, the Belarusian State Border Guard Committee has reported.
"The situation is calm. There have been no reports on any attempts to block traffic, like what is happening on the Ukrainian-Polish border," Alexander Tishchenko, the head of the press service for the Belarusian State Border Guard Committee, told Interfax.
According to the State Border Guard Committee, no lines were registered at checkpoints on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border as of 7:00 a.m. Minsk time.
According to earlier reports, protesters in Ukraine began blocking checkpoints on the country's border with Poland. Some 40 people blocked the road several hundred meters from the Krakovets checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish border, a spokesperson said. The people put tires and other objects on the road thus blocking traffic both to Poland and Ukraine.
Already several dozen trucks are queuing on the spot, the border agency said.
