Kyiv police deny report of raid on Desnyansky district administration

KYIV. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Unknown persons raided the administration building in Desnyansky district in Ukraine's capital Kyiv last night, the Kyiv city administration said on its website.

"As of 1:30 a.m., some 100 people wielding baseball bats were trying to get inside the district administration building. Molotov cocktails were being used," it said.

At least two police cars that arrived at the site were set alight, it said.

A city police spokesman, however, has denied the report.

"There was no raid. There was just a group of unknown persons who smashed a car window and hurled a Molotov cocktail into the car, which then caught fire," the spokesman said.

AutoMaidan activists who visited the Desnyansky district following the city administration's report told Interfax that they had not seen any burning cars outside of the district administration building.

The situation around the district administration headquarters was "very quiet," they said.

No people were seen in the area, they said.
