Yaroshenko had second medical evaluation in U.S. prison - Yaroshenko's mother

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko, who is currently in prison in the United States, has undergone another medical examination, but the results are not available now, his mother Lyubov Yaroshenko said.

"Konstantin had a medical examination on Wednesday. Previously, the prison administration said the establishment did not have the necessary equipment for an in-depth medical examination, but [the equipment] was magically found," Yaroshenko told Interfax on Thursday.

Lyubov Yaroshenko said Yaroshenko's diagnosis has not been reported yet and he was only told general information about the problems that have been found.

"Kostya talked with the doctor in English, he was not given an interpreter. He understood from what the doctors said that he has problems with the cardiac muscle. However, the results of the examination were never announced. He was not given injections or intravenous drugs, he was only prescribed pills. My son doesn't know what they are for," Lyubov Yaroshenko said.

According to earlier reports, Yaroshenko's health deteriorated some two weeks ago. According to his relatives and lawyer, Yaroshenko is having chest pains and has trouble breathing.

After Yaroshenko was examined by doctors for the first time, the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed its outrage about the fact that the urgent medical evaluation of Konstantin Yaroshenko earlier promised by the administration of Fort Dix prison in reality turned out to be a formal and superficial examination and neither he nor the lawyer and Russian diplomats were informed about its results.

Yaroshenko was arrested in Liberia on May 28, 2010, on charges of plotting to transport a large amount of cocaine, and was then deported to the United States. On September 7, 2011 the Russian man was sentenced by a U.S. judge to 20 years in prison.
