Opposition rally held in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG. Feb 21 (Interfax) - A rally sanctioned by the authorities in support of activists charged in the case over Bolotnaya Square riots in Moscow was held near Solovetsky Stone in Troitskaya Square in St. Petersburg.

The sanctioned rally involved around 300 people instead of the 700 stated in the application, the organizer and St. Petersburg co-chairman of RPR-PARNAS Party Andrey Pivovarov told Interfax.

At some stage, a dispute occurred when a passer-by threw 'some object' into the demonstrators, he said. The rally passed without any arrests.
