U.S. declines Ukrainian coup idea - ambassador

KYIV. Feb 24 (Interfax) - The United States disagrees with the opinion that Ukraine has witnessed a coup, U.S. Ambassador in Kyiv Geoffrey Pyatt said.

He told reporters in Kyiv on Sunday they rejected any hints that Ukraine had been experiencing a coup and that the legitimacy of the local events was in question because of certain foreign support.

As to the Russian opinion about the Ukrainian events, the ambassador said that the United States and Russia did not see eye to eye on the question of the Kyiv events.

Same as Russia, Europe and the United States are interested in Ukrainian stability and strongly condemn any manifestations of violence, Pyatt emphasized.
