KYIV. Feb 24 (Interfax) - The election campaign in the Ukrainian early presidential election will start on Tuesday, February 25, but the Central Election Commission (CEC) must not make this announcement at its session, the CEC spokesperson told Interfax.
"The election campaign begins automatically, based on the Verkhovna Rada resolution scheduling the early presidential election in Ukraine for May 25. This is why the CEC will not be making an announcement about the start of the election campaign at its Monday session," the spokesperson said.
The early presidential election in Ukraine will be honest and transparent, Verkhovna Rada Chairman and the country's acting head of state Oleksandr Turchynov said.
"The main thing we must ensure - which is precisely where I will be steering the work of all government bodies, including local ones - is for this election to be democratic, transparent, and honest," he said at a briefing on Monday.
I am certain the new government will be able to manage its task of leading the country out of the crisis, Turchynov said.
