MOSCOW. March 3 (Interfax-AVN) - This year's first regiment command post exercise involving the parachute and anti-aircraft missile regiments of the Tula division of the Russian Airborne Troops (VDV) began on Monday, VDV spokesman Lt. Col. Yevgeny Meshkov told Interfax-AVN.
"During the exercise military transport aircraft will redeploy the VDV subdivisions from the airfield in Dyagilevo to the Noviki town area in the Ryazan region," he said.
"The dropping by parachute of weapons and military hardware on parachute platforms and of around 500 VDV service members from four Ilyushin Il-76 aircraft is scheduled for March 6," Meshkov said.
The active phase of the exercise will be held on March 6-7 with a live-firing stage at the new training complex in Dubrovichi, he said.
