KYIV. March 5 (Interfax) - UDAR party leader Vitali Klitschko and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry discussed the current situation in Ukraine at a meeting in Kyiv, the UDAR party press service reports.
Klitschko thanked the U.S. leadership for its support at this difficult time for Ukraine and for its willingness to provide financial assistance.
Klitschko also emphasized the importance of holding early presidential elections in Ukraine. "It is important today to prevent a disruption of early presidential elections in Ukraine. We insist on holding the elections on the date set by the Verkhovna Rada, on May 25. Ukraine needs a legitimate president," he said.
"The frontline of a battle for stability and democracy in Europe and the world is running through Ukraine now. Therefore, we need to speed up the process of Ukraine's European integration today," he said.
