MOSCOW. March 5 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on the Russian government not to apply the political component to economic cooperation issues in relations with Ukraine.
"I have a request to you and our colleagueswho work in the sphere of energy and finance. We see some political tension, but it should not reflect on our current economic cooperation," Putin told Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin during a report on the situation with the safety of nuclear power plants in Ukraine at a meeting with government officials.
Putin reiterated that no one's problems should be increased and called for cooperation with all traditional partners, "of course, securing our interests."
"However, we should not fuel any tensions and we should not apply the political component to economic cooperation issues," Putin said.
