MINSK. March 11 (Interfax) - The Council of Permanent Representatives of CIS Member States is expected to meet on March 11 to debate Ukraine's initiative to hold an emergency session of the CIS Foreign Ministers' Council, a CIS Executive Committee spokesman told Interfax on Tuesday.
"Ukraine's proposal of an emergency session of the CIS Foreign Ministers' Council will be at the center of today's meeting," he said.
Interfax reported earlier, citing Ukraine's Permanent Representative to CIS Coordinating Institutions, Ivan Bunechko, that it would be a closed-door meeting.
"At their session, the permanent envoys will offer their expert assessment of the materials that will be submitted to the CIS Foreign Ministers' Council for consideration," he said.
"The current situation in some regions of Ukraine will dominate the agenda" of the CIS Foreign Ministers' Council meeting, Bunechko said.
"Ukraine, as the country which today holds the CIS chairmanship, has proposed holding an emergency session of the CIS Foreign Ministers' Council on March 12. The documents that Kyiv wants to be discussed have been forwarded to the foreign ministers of CIS countries," he said.
The CIS permanent representatives are not authorized to decide whether or not the CIS Foreign Ministers' Council will meet, Bunechko said.
"We can give only expert assessments and recommendations," he added.
