SIMFEROPOL. March 11 (Interfax) - The Crimean authorities are in complete control of the situation at the peninsula, speaker of the Crimean legislature Vladimir Konstantinov told reporters on Monday.
"There will be no provocations. Let those who plan them have no hope," the speaker said.
"Crimean residents should feel calm," Konstantinov said.
The authorities expect a high turnout at the referendum, Konstantinov said. Many residents of Crimea, who are in other regions now, are asking what they should do and intend to return to Crimea for the referendum, he said.
The referendum is scheduled in Crimea for March 16.
