Sevastopol council votes to join Russia with special status

SEVASTOPOL. March 17 (Interfax) - Members of the Sevastopol city council on Monday voted in favor of their city becoming a Russian constituent region with the status of a city of federal significance.

"To ask the Russian Federation to take the hero city of Sevastopol as a Russian constituent region with the status of a city of federal significance," the city council deputies said in a resolution.
