Criminal case opened based on seizure of buildings of prosecutors' offices, Ukrainian security Service, Donetsk Region's Industrial Union

KYIV. March 17 (Interfax) - The prosecutors of the Donetsk region has opened a criminal case on the basis of the March 16 seizure of the buildings of the Donetsk region's prosecutor's office, the Ukrainian security Service, Donetsk Region's Industrial Union.

"A group of investigators and operatives has been created and a plan of priority investigative actions has been made. A legal evaluation will be given to every person involved in the seizure," the Donetsk region's prosecutors said in a report issued on Monday.

A criminal case has been opened based on Article 341 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code (seizure of state buildings).

According to earlier reports, over 2,000 people tried to storm the building of the Donetsk region's prosecutor's office on March 16 demanding the release of the region's self-proclaimed governor Pavlo Gubarev. A Russian flag was put on the roof of the building.

The region's prosecutor Mykola Frantovsky tried to talk to the protesters, but they prevented him from doing that.

The protesters later broke the windows in the door to the building, and some of them entered the building. Smoke started coming out of the doors. The protesters also ripped of and threw away the Ukrainian flag that was located in the hall of the region's prosecutor's office.

The region's self-proclaimed governor Pavlo Gubarev was detained by Ukrainian Security Service forces in Donetsk on March 6. He is charged with crimes enshrined by Part 2 of Article 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine), Part 1 of Article 109 (actions aimed at forcible change of the constitutional system or seizure of state power), and Article 341 (seizure of state or public buildings).
