Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Karasin, co-chairs of Geneva Discussions discuss next round on Trans-Caucasus

MOSCOW. March 18 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin and co-chairs of the Geneva Discussions have discussed the issues related to the preparations on the next round on the Geneva Discussions on security and stability in Trans-Caucasus scheduled for March 25-26.

"On March 18 Russia's State Secretary, Deputy Foreign Minister Karasin met with Co-Chairs of the Geneva Discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasus - UN Representative Turunen and OSCE Special Representative Gnedinger - and EU's permanent representative to the OSCE Bechet," the Russian Foreign Ministry posted a statement on its website on Tuesday.

During the meeting opinions were exchanged on the current situation in Trans-Caucasus, including the situation at the Abkhazian-Georgian and South Ossetian-Georgian borders, and the work of joint mechanisms fore incident prevention and response, the document said.

"Practical issues of preparing the next meeting in Geneva scheduled for March 25-26 have been discussed," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
