Tbilisi urges int'l community to assess situation concerning Crimea "calmly but truly"

TBILISI. March 19 (Interfax) - Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili said he urged the international community to assess the actions of Russia regarding Ukraine "calmly but truly."

As to the stance of the Georgian authorities on the Crimean situation, Tbilisi is very concerned with "what happened yesterday," Margvelashvili said at a news conference on Wednesday.

These events pose a threat "to the global order upon which humanity had been functioning since after World War II," the president said.

"Assuming this, Georgia is urging the entire international community to assess the existing situation calmly but truly at the same time," Margvelashvili said.

"Georgia stands by civilized countries, which think that issues between states are resolved diplomatically, not with seizing territories and military force," Margvelashvili said.
