KYIV. March 20 (Interfax) - Ukraine is planning to ask the United Nations to declare Crimea a demilitarized zone, the head of the country's top security body said on Wednesday.

"The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has been instructed to make an urgent request to the United Nations for qualifying the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea as a demilitarized zone, and to take exhaustive measures for the withdrawal of the armed forces of the Russian Federation from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea," Andriy Parubiy, secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, told a briefing after a council meeting,

The council also instructed the government to draft a treaty to redeploy Ukrainian forces based in Crimea to mainland Ukraine, he said.
