Foreigners staying in Russia illegally over one year to be banned entry for ten years - Romodanovsky

MOSCOW. March 20 (Interfax) - Foreign citizens, who stay in Russia illegally for over a year, will be banned entry for ten years, Russian Federal Migration Service Chief Konstantin Romodanovsky told reporters in Moscow on Wednesday.

"As of now, deputies have submitted a bill banning entry to foreign citizens staying in Russia illegally over one year. It is proposed to ban their entry for ten years," Romodanovsky said.

"We have counted - we have 845,000 foreign citizens in Russia, who stayed over this period [stay in Russia illegally for over a year]. I think that this is unacceptable. Everyone agrees that some actions should be taken," Romodanovsky said.

A total of 645,000 foreign citizens, who violated Russian laws, were banned entry to Russia in 2013, Romodanovsky said earlier on Wednesday.
