Ukrainian envoy to CIS divests himself of powers

MINSK. March 20 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Permanent Representative to CIS Coordination Institutions Ivan Bunechko says Kyiv has quit the chairmanship of the CIS because of the Crimean situation.

"That was done in connection with the Crimean events and violation of a number of Helsinki agreements," Bunechko told reporters in Minsk on Thursday.

He also said he would officially divest himself of powers of the Ukrainian Permanent Representative to the CIS at a meeting of the Council of Permanent Representatives to the CIS that is currently underway in Minsk.
