Over 30 people preparing provocations in Crimea detained, deported to Ukraine - media

MOSCOW. March 20 (Interfax) - In one month the people's defense of Sevastopol detained and deported to Ukraine 30 supposed activists of ultra-right organizations, who planned provocations during the all-Crimea referendum, the Kryminform news agency reported on Thursday.

"Thirty Maidan activists have been detained and deported from Crimea, several local neo-Nazi groups have been found and provocations have been prevented. Overnight following the referendum we intercepted information about Maidan activists in retreat - they have been ordered to leave the peninsula," Kryminform quoted deputy head of Sevastopol's committee of people's defense, Sergei Tutuyev, as saying.

"The general task Maidan activists had was to get in Sevastopol and prepare provocations for the referendum," Tutuyev said.

Sevastopol defense forces have set roadblocks, introduced patrols of mountain roads and established special intelligence units in order not to allow this.

Around 50 communications channels going to provocateurs' coordinator in Bakhchisarai operated in Sevastopol, Kryminform reported citing information intercepted.

"Several times pursuits and detentions of 'Maidan activists' were conducted with force but eventually everything ended with no casualties. After the referendum was held, activities of ultra-right activists have decreased considerably," Kryminform reported.
