KYIV. March 24 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk will take part in the 2014 Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague on March 24-25, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
"The main goal of the top-level meeting is to discuss important problems pertaining to further reductions in the number of nuclear materials in the world and their physical security," Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis said.
The heads of state and government from 54 countries and leaders of a number of international organizations, particularly the UN, the EU, the IAEA, and Interpol, are expected to take part in the summit, he said.
The event is expected to see the presentation of a number of voluntary initiatives whose implementation should promote the summit's objectives, he said.
"National reports on progress in carrying out decisions of previous summits will be presented. In particular, the Ukrainian delegation will present a national report on the implementation of the agreements reached during the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit," he said.
During the summit, the Ukrainian prime minister planed bilateral meetings with leaders of some countries, he said.
In addition to this, at U.S. President Barack Obama's request, the G7 countries will hold a meeting to discuss the situation in Ukraine.
