New time, date set for Soyuz TMA-12M docking with ISS - Russian Mission Control Center

KOROLYOV, Moscow region. March 26 (Interfax) - The Soyuz TMA-12M spaceship is due to dock with the International Space Station (ISS) at 3:58 a.m. Moscow time on March 28, a source from the Russian Mission Control Center told Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.

"A new cyclogram of the spaceship's approach to the ISS has been created. Consistent with it, the spaceship will perform an unscheduled maneuver towards the required orbit. If the operation is done smoothly, the docking will take place at 3:58 a.m. Moscow time on Friday," the source said.

He said the docking date and time had to be changed because the spaceship had skipped an engine maneuver.

"The spaceship skipped the third engine burn in orbit. Reportedly, that happened because of ship orientation problems," the source said.

"Mission Control Center ballisticians have calculated a new orbit. The ship is supposed to make an urgent maneuver for taking it," he said.

As reported earlier, the docking of the Soyuz TMA-12M spaceship with the ISS originally planned for 7:04 a.m. Moscow time on Wednesday had been delayed for two days.

"It has been decided to approach the ISS in two days instead of six hours. Hence, the docking will take place on March 28," the Mission Control Center representative told Interfax.

A Soyuz-FG LV carrying the Soyuz TMA-12M manned spaceship blasted off from the "Gagarin launch site" of Baikonur on Wednesday.

The 39/40th ISS crew - Alexander Skvortsov and Oleg Artemyev of Russia and NASA astronaut Steven Swanson - went on space mission.
