BISHKEK. March 28 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev has said he sees no reasons for mass protests in the country similar to those that were staged in Ukraine.
"There should be reasons for the eruption of mass disturbances that occurred in our country in 2005 ad 2010, as well as in Ukraine recently. These reasons are similar everywhere. They include corruption, rule by families and clans and a lack of trust in honest elections. Such reasons will not appear as long as I remain the president," Atambayev told national television stations on Thursday.
The president said that some politicians in Kyrgyzstan "are ready for everything". He called them "vultures who have grown used to making fortunes" by masterminding all sorts of protest actions.
There are also forces who "seek to create controlled chaos and spread it to the territory of other states of the Central Asian region and the neighboring regions of China," he said.
External forces are able to act in Kyrgyzstan with the help of individual non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Atambayev said.
"When I look at these NGOs, I see that most of them do not really care whose orders they obey as they attempt to stir up the situation," the president said.
