MOSCOW. March 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Granat and Zastava drone crews from the Russian military base in Tajikistan have practiced drone deployment on the Lyaur mountainous range 40 kilometers away from Dushanbe.
"The crews prepared the launch within ten minutes compared to the 20 minutes required by the regulations," the Central Military District said in a report obtained by Interfax-AVN on Friday.
The drill was held in preparations for the command exercises of the 201st military base due in April.
The units will assess the efficiency of target destruction, adjust fire of artillery and armor units and support the operations of reconnaissance and motorized infantry units, the district staff said.
The drones are designed for aerial reconnaissance and radio jamming missions. They are equipped with infrared, photo and video modules and can operate round-the-clock and detect camouflaged enemies. The top speed of the drones nears 120 kilometers per hour and the top altitude is 3,000 meters. They can operate in a temperature range from negative 30 to positive 40 degrees Celsius.
