CHISINAU. March 28 (Interfax) - U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland will visit Moldova on Sunday, March 30.
A spokesman for the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration told Interfax that during her trip, Nuland would be accompanied by Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Evelyn Farkas and Director of the U.S. European Command Director of Strategy and Policy Maj. Gen. Randy Kee.
"This visit comes as a follow-up to the strategic dialogue between Moldova and the U.S. that was launched during a recent official visit to the U.S. by Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leanca," the spokesman said.
During their one-day visit, the U.S. officials are expected to meet with Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti, Prime Minister Leanca and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman.
"The discussions with our American partners will address issues concerning the development of Moldovan-American relations in light of the strategic dialogue that was launched in the U.S. during Prime Minister Iurie Leanca's recent visit there," the spokesman said.
The process of Moldova's integration into Europe, the Transdniestrian problem and regional security issues will be discussed as well.
