Almaz to deliver 3 ships to FSB, 2 derrick boats to Defense Ministry in 2014

ST. PETERSBURG. March 28 (Interfax-AVN) - The St. Petersburg Almaz shipyard will deliver three patrol boats to the Federal Security Service in 2014, the shipyard press service told Interfax.

The customer will receive two ships of Project 22460 (factory numbers 504 and 505) and a speed boat of Project 12200 "Sobol".

In addition, Almaz will supply two derrick boats of Project 02690 to the Russian Defense Ministry.

The construction of another two ships of Project 22460 and three derrick boats will begin this year.

The border patrol ship of Project 22460 is tailored to protect the state border and territorial waters, as well as to fight terrorism and sea piracy. It has a displacement of 630 tonnes, a speed of 30 knots, an operational range of 3,500 miles, an endurance of 30 days and a length of 62.5 meters.

The speed boat of Project 12200 "Sobol" is designed for coast guard operations, search-and-rescue missions, protection of fishery resources, patrolling and customs inspections. It has a displacement of 57 tonnes, a length of 28 meters, a width of 4.4 meters, a top speed of 50 knots and an operational range of 500 miles.

Derrick boats of Project 02690 can perform all types of lifting operations, in particular, loading ammunition on surface ships and submarines. They have a lifting capacity of 35-150 tonnes. Almaz intends to build a series of nine derrick boats for the Defense Ministry's order.

Almaz is focused on military shipbuilding.
