Moscow expects 5+2 talks on Transdniestria to take place on set date - Russian envoy to OSCE

MOSCOW. March 28 (Interfax) - Russia is not aware of any plans to postpone the 5+2 negotiations addressing possible solutions to the Transdniestrian issue, Moscow's envoy to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Andrei Kelin, said during a Moscow-Vienna video linkup on Friday.

"The latest information available to me suggests that talks on Transdniestria have not been postponed. We expect them to take place on the earlier announced date," he said, when commenting on reports claiming that these negotiations could be delayed.

Negotiations aimed at finding a solution to the Transdniestrian conflict have been in progress since 1992. First, they included Moldova and Transdniestria as the sides in the conflict, as well as the OSCE, Russia and Ukraine as mediators. The European Union and the United States joined the talks in 2005 as observers.

It was reported earlier that the next round of these negotiations should be held in Vienna on April 10-11.
