IZHEVSK. April 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Kalashnikov Concern will take up a new strategy in the promotion of civilian arms in the second half of this year, which may double sales in Europe and stop a decline in the selling of products of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant, the corporate newspaper wrote.
The company will seek to reduce the number of intermediaries as a way to cut costs and to set competitive prices on civilian weapons. "It will maintain closer relations with dealers, who will be assigned to particular territories and countries, and work directly through leading retail networks and wholesale buyers [sports schools, police, security guard companies and shooting clubs]," the article runs.
"We expect this marketing strategy to double sales of Kalashnikov products in Europe. We also hope to stop the decline in sales of Izhevsk Mechanical Plant products we have been witnessing for a number of years and even to increase the sales in a year or two," the article cited General Director Alexei Krivoruchko as saying.
According to the concern, the new strategy of the promotion of civilian weapons will be launched in the second half of 2014. "By then the company will elaborate its pricing and product range policy, the dealership network and standards of selling Izhevsk arms products," the article said.
