MOSCOW. April 1 (Interfax) - Opposition activist Eduard Limonov was detained on Monday at Triumfalnaya Square in central Moscow for holding an unsanctioned rally.
Limonov arrived at the square in order to hold a rally in support of Constitution Article 31 on freedom of assembly. The opposition activist was detained while approaching the square. A policeman explained to Limonov that he had been denied the right to hold the rally and then escorted him to a police bus.
Several supporters of Limonov tried to chant slogans following this but were detained by the police as well.
