Policemen from Crimea's Berkut force to undergo anti-terror training in Stavropol

STAVROPOL. April 1 (Interfax) - The Stavropol Territorial Interior Department's special police force will teach colleagues from Crimea's Berkut special police formation anti-terrorist fighting techniques at their training ground in Stavropol Territory.

"We have agreed with our Stavropol colleagues that our police officers will undergo a course in anti-terror training. After the Berkut formation's staff is confirmed, the first group will go to Stavropol," Sergei Raspopov, an officer with Crimea's Berkut force, told Interfax on Tuesday.

He said colleagues in Stavropol have "vast experience in fighting terrorism and extremism as many of them participated in anti-terror operations in the North Caucasus."

"We have agreed on details already, and we will be given all around assistance," he said.

Raspopov said that the Berkut force in Crimea is not more than 400-strong, therefore "assistance from Stavropol will come very handy."

Six police officers from Crimea's Berkut force have arrived in Stavropol on Monday under a program for exchanging experience with Stavropol colleagues.
