BRUSSELS. April 2 (Interfax) - NATO is ready to cooperate with Ukraine in the military sphere because it wants this country to have a combat-capable army, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said on Tuesday.
Ukraine must have modern and effective armed forces that are capable of countering military threats, he told a press conference in Brussels.
Asked about the nature of this cooperation, he said it will become obvious in the next few days, months and years.
NATO, among other things, is ready to engage more actively with Ukrainian troops in NATO exercises, he said. Also, under certain circumstances NATO instructors will be ready to work with Ukraine, he said.
