NATO cannot make decisions on arms supply to Ukraine - Rasmussen

BRUSSELS. April 2 (Interfax) - As an organization NATO cannot make decisions on arms supplies to Ukraine: these matters are within the remit of its member states, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said on Tuesday.

As an organization, NATO does not have weapons of its own. Armaments fall into the competence of the alliance's member states, he told a press conference in Brussels.

For this reason, the question of arms supplies in the case with Ukraine can only be decided on a bilateral level in direct contact between Kyiv and NATO states, the secretary general said.
