Disarmament in "classic" sense remains in past to large extent - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. April 7 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry has reported changes in its inner structure - the department of security and disarmament has been eliminated and department for non-proliferation and control over arms has been created in its place.

"The change is related to the fact that in the past years functions and zones of responsibility for this structural subdivision expanded significantly. But more importantly, issues of non-proliferation of mass weapons and control over arms come to the fore more and more in the work direction this department is engaged, while disarmament in its classic sense remains in the past to a large extent," the Russian Foreign Ministry posted a statement in its website on Friday.
