MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax) - Law enforcement officers have taken the side of protesters in a number of east Ukrainian cities, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin said.
"Ukrainian interim President Turchynov appointed by the Verkhovna Rada said that the country's National Security Council had decided to launch an extensive anti-terrorism operation involving the army, given the fact that the protesters had never terrorized anyone, had not crushed the police with a bulldozer and had not thrown rocks and Molotov cocktails at the police in contrast to the Maidan [fighters]. It is not accidental that law enforcement officers in some cities have taken the side of the protesters," Churkin told the UN Security Council on Monday.
