Russia alarmed by attack on its consular department in Chernihiv

MOSCOW. April 15 (Interfax) - Moscow is alarmed by reports that Russia's honorary consular department in Chernihiv has been attacked.

"Alarming news is arriving from Ukraine again. Assailants wearing camouflage threw cobble stones at the entrance door of Russia's honorary consular department in Chernihiv early on April 14, and stuck insulting and obscene leaflets to it," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a commentary on Tuesday.

"The consular department's property was damaged. The assailants fled before security guards and police arrived," it said.

"Continuing instability in Ukraine, extremist Russophobic outrages and criminal elements' impunity arouse serious concern. We urge the local authorities to take all necessary measures to prevent such incidents, and to guarantee normal conditions for the consular service's work," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
