SUKHUMI. April 15 (Interfax) - Abkhazian President Alexander Ankvab has welcomed the Crimea-Russia reunion.
"This is fair from any point of view. The territory, which had temporarily been lost, the inseparable part reunited with Russia," he told reporters in Sukhumi on Tuesday.
"This is the main difference between Crimea and Abkhazia, which makes any comparisons impossible. They [comparisons] are simply inappropriate," Ankvab said.
Speaking of the latest events in Ukraine, Ankvab said, "This is an extremely distressing process. We are witnessing the breakup of a country, national radicalism runs the show, and people are suffering. This is an object lesson for everyone."
The president disagreed that tourists should choose resorts of the Krasnodar territory and Abkhazia instead of Crimea this year. "We are not Crimea's rivals. Abkhazian and Crimean resorts have their specific attributes," Ankvab noted.
