Europe, U.S. should finally do something for Ukraine's economy, let them give at least one dollar - Medvedev

MOSCOW. April 16 (Interfax) - Europe and the United States should stop discussing the necessity to help Ukraine and finally do something in order to help, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

"All those, saying that it is necessary to help Ukraine, should finally do something for Ukraine. I mean our European partners as well as overseas partners. Let them give at least one dollar," Medvedev said at a news conference in Moscow.

"Endless promises - we will give one billion, we will transfer five billion. So, let them give something," he said.

Russia has recently bought $3 billion in Ukrainian Eurobonds and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Head Christine Lagarde has recently assessed Russia's help, having said that these funds played a considerable role in setting macroeconomic stability for a certain period, Medvedev said.

"I think that now it is time for our European partners and the United States to finally do something useful for the Ukrainian economy. At that, namely the economy - not to carry out secret trips and instruct rebels but to do something useful," the prime minister said.
