Shoigu arrives in Severomorsk to check preparedness of Borei sub coastal infrastructure

SEVEROMORSK. April 16 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu arrived in Severomorsk on a working trip on Wednesday to check on the progress in the construction works and preparedness of the coastal infrastructure for the deployment of Borei fourth-generation strategic nuclear submarines.

"The Russian defense minister will visit the North Fleet headquarters and units to listen to a report from the commander, Admiral Vladimir Korolyov, about the condition and operation of the fleet forces and the social and military infrastructure, including facilities supporting the fleet's submarine forces, anchorages and piers for ships of new projects," Russian Defense Ministry press service and information department head Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov told reporters.

"The minister will also inspect the construction of residential buildings for the crews of new nuclear submarines and their families and the operation of the recently built sport training center and other facilities in Gadzhiyevo," Konashenkov said.
