Medvedev supports creating coordination center at Vostochny cosmodrome

MOSCOW. April 16 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that he supported the idea of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin to establish a coordination headquarters at the Vostochny cosmodrome, which is currently being built.

"I support the proposal of Deputy Prime Minister Rogozin to create a coordination center right at the cosmodrome. It is impossible to manage the site and construction, especially of such a technologically difficult object as a cosmodrome, from Moscow or any other location," Medvedev said on Wednesday during a conference call dedicated to issues in the Vostochny cosmodrome's construction.

The headquarters should be at the cosmodrome, he said.

Medvedev ordered executives of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) to work this issue out and to report on it to Rogozin.

"We care about results and this should be a modern, state-of-art cosmodrome of Russia, from which any launches could be carried out. It is a difficult task for us because we have not dealt with it in such a manner lately. However, it is certainly doable for us," Medvedev said.
