GADZHIYEVO (Murmansk region). April 17 (Interfax-AVN) - The Northern Fleet (NF) submarine forces are undergoing intense military training, their principal activity being continual patrol, NF submarine forces' commander Rear Admiral Alexander Moiseyev said.
"I hereby responsibly declare that the patrol mission of the Fleet's strategic missile submarine cruisers does not stop for a second," he said at the NF submarine base in Gadzhiyevo on Wednesday.
The NF submarine force "is in top readiness" to accomplish its tasks as designed, Moiseyev said. "It was checked and highly rated during the recent impromptu inspection of the combat readiness of troops (forces) of the Western Military District," he recalled.
In 2013, two Borey-class fourth-generation strategic missile submarine cruisers - Yury Dolgorukiy and Alexander Nevsky - entered service in the Navy under the state armament program, Moiseyev recalled. "This year we are planning to receive the third missile carrier of the same class, Vladimir Monomakh, and the lead fourth-generation multirole nuclear submarine (called) Severodvinsk," the commander said.
The NF submarine force includes one division of ballistic missile submarines and three divisions of multirole submarines, he recalled.
