Medvedev suggests looking into motives for restrictions in water supplies of Crimea from Ukraine

MOSCOW. April 17 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev finds it necessary to find out whether problems related to water supplies to Crimea are caused by "petty politicking."

At a Wednesday meeting with the leadership of United Russia and representatives of its regional chapters in the Crimean Federal District the issue of water supplies was raised by head of the Crimean State Council and secretary of the Crimean chapter of United Russia Vladimir Konstantinov.

"There are problems with water for farming needs. Our brothers are sometimes mean - occasionally close the tap, resort to blackmail. But I think that here we will also reach some compromise," Konstantinov said.

"So far our brothers have been saying the issue remains open in the absence of an agreement. Let us see whether only legal problems are truly in question or petty politicking stands behind it," Medvedev said.
