Russian minister dismisses allegations on Russian commandos' involvement in southeast Ukraine events

MOSCOW. April 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has sarcastically dismissed Ukrainian Security Service chief Valentyn Nalyvaichenko's allegations that Russian special forces have been involved in the ongoing events in the southeastern part of Ukraine.

"These allegations smack of paranoia," Shoigu told journalists on Thursday.

"After loud revelations regarding Russian special forces' role in the events in Ukraine, one has the impression that the only combat-ready units in Ukraine today are press centers," Shoigu said.

"Instead of looking for Moscow's hand all the time, Kyiv should stop calling the residents of the southeastern Ukraine separatists or terrorists and start a constructive dialogue with them," he said.

"And as for the allegations on the use of Russian special forces in Ukraine, I'll tell you one thing: it's difficult to look for a black cat in a dark room, especially if she isn't there. And it's even more stupid if this cat is smart, brave, and polite," Shoigu said.
