Kharkiv court upholds arrest of 36 suspects in regional administration seizure

KHARKIV. April 18 (Interfax) - The Kharkiv Appeal Court has mitigated the measure of restraint on 16 activists detained on April 8 when the regional administration's building was freed from demonstrators.

The court processed the detainees' appeals on Thursday and changed their custody with a bail option to house arrest. The court upheld the arrest of 36 detainees, among them Ukrainian Eastern Bloc activist Yehor Lohvynov and live-streamer Serhiy Yudaev who were also denied the release on bail.

The court met in camera and the suspects did not attend the hearing. Some of them communicated with the court via video link.

Federalization supporters seized the building of the Kharkiv regional administration in the night of April 6. The police freed the building in the morning of April 8 and detained 65 suspects.
